Buttermere
Buttermere or the "lake by dairy pasture" is 2.4 km long and less
than 0.8 km wide. This small lake is situated in the top western corner
of the Lake District and is a quiet gem set back from the busier lakes
of the central Lake District. Fells bound the lake and south the shadow
of Great Stile mountain looms large. Buttermere is one of a triumvirate
of lakes including Loweswater
and Crummock
Water .
