Derwentwater

Derwentwater, known as the "Queen of the Lakes", at 4.8 km long and 2 km wide is the widest lake in the Lake District. Derwentwater means "lake of the river with many oak trees" and is one of the more shallow lakes of the county being only 21.9 m deep at its deepest point. Situated just outside Keswick, the B5289 runs alongside the eastern side of the lake enabling fantastic views for the car driver entering Keswick. more
