Elterwater

Elterwater (derived from the old Norse for swan) is a privately owned lake in the heart of the Lake District. Located to the south of Grasmere and to the west of Lake Windermere, the lake is only 0.80 m in length, 0.4 km wide and 15.24 m deep. The lake is the largest on the border of the Langdale valley and the views of the Langdale Pikes are marvellous and well worth a visit. more
