Ullswater
Ullswater to the north-east of the Lake District is one of the highest
lakes in the National Park at 145 m above sea level. This winding
lake is 12 km long, 1.2 km wide and is the 3rd deepest in the area
with depths of up to 62.4 m. Ullswater gets its name from the first
Lord of Ullswater, L'Ulf, a Viking or a Norse settler. The A592 runs
along the west bank enabling the car driver to park at the numerous
stopping points along the road and marvel at the picturesque setting
of the lake.
