Wastwater
Wastwater is the deepest lake in the Lake District at 78.6 m. Situated
in the west of the county the lake is 4.8 km in length and 0.8 km
wide.
Yewbarrow, Great
Gable and Lingmell - all prominent in the near distance - bound
the shores of the lake. The dramatic Wastwater screes (over 609 m
high) descend sharply to the lake and provide an impressively harsh
vista. To the east of the lake Seatallen (692 m) looks down on this
desolate water.
