Thirlmere Valley
Thirlmere Valley is a quiet valley to the east of Keswick accessible
via the A591.
The valley of Thirlmere was partially flooded in 1879 to create the
modern-day reservoir that is Thirlmere (the "lake with hollow"). Thirlmere
Lake is nearly 6.03 km long and 0.8 km wide.
The views around the lake up to Helvellyn and Dollywagon Pike are
wonderful from this quiet lake area.
