Allithwaite
Allithwaite, to the west of Grange-over-Sands
and to the north of Kent's Bank, is a small place of un-ruined beauty.
In the village lie the remains of the old Wraysholme Tower.
Allithwaite is close to the picturesque beauty spot of Humphrey Head,
the tallest limestone cliff in Cumbria. Blessed with a holy well,
18th/19th century travellers flocked to Humphrey Head to take in the
waters and inhale the bracing sea air. Rumour has it that the last
wolf in England was killed on Humphrey Head.
