Backbarrow

Backbarrow, the former home of the famous 'Dolly Blue' dye works, is a charming little village set back from the A590 in a quiet recess by the River Leven, a small river winding its way down from Lake Windermere.

In the 18th century Backbarrow was home to flat iron workers such as Isaac Wilkinson but more recently the area has seen the development of Whitewater Village. more
