Carlisle
Carlisle is the capital city of the county of Cumbria and is located
to the far north of the county. Although Carlisle has the largest concentration
of people of any place in Cumbria, it remains a warm and friendly place
for visitors.
The cathedral in Carlisle, the only one in Cumbria, was conscreated
as a cathedral in 1133 and has presided over the the city ever since.
After a fire in 1292 the cathedral was rebuilt.
