Carlisle and The Borders

Situated at the northern end of the county this area provides the adminsitrative centre of the county, Carlisle, Cumbria's only city. The area around Carlisle is awash with history such as the Roman Hadrian's Wall used to keep out the marauding Scots. This area is peppered with castles and forts as well as areas of outstanding natural beauty in the area such as Denton Fell to the east of the city.
