East Cumbria

The Eden Valley in the east of the county stretches as far as Penrith in the north and Alston in the east. One of the lesser explored sides of Cumbria, this area has much to offer the visitor with charming towns and villages hidden away in the many undulations of the river. Easily accesible from the M6, which mirrors the river's progress, this area has many stunning beauty spots such as the views from Alston across the Pennines to the east and the Arcadian bliss of Whinfell Forest to the west of the region.
