Thornthwaite

Thornthwaite is a dispersed village to the south-west of Bassenthwaite Lake just off the A66. To the north west of Keswick and the south east of Cockermouth , Thornthwaite is a popular destination for those keen to experience the rugged beauty of the northern Lakes. Thornthwaite boasts a fine 17th century hotel and shares the celebrated Victory Memorial hall with nearby Bassenthwaite, this and more enabled Thornthwaite to jointly lift the best kept village of 1982 award.
