Ulverston

Hoad Monument, or 'The Pepperpot' as locals call it, dominates the skyline of Ulverston. This commanding structure atop a hill is a replica of the famous Eddystone Lighthouse and was erected in the 19th century by Sir John Barrow.

Ulverston has the distinction of being the birthplace of the late Stan Laurel the famous comedy actor. Ulverston boasts a fine museum to the star full of memorabilia and interesting facts.
